Citizens' Speak up
Citizens' Speak Up is a chill meetup where locals share ideas and speak their minds face-to-face!
Join us for a powerful and welcoming Speak Up day based on the 7 Keys to Citizenship.
This is a free event for people with learning disabilities and their carers to come together, share experiences, and talk about what makes a good life. It includes Free entry to the Eden project and a lunch. The 7 Keys include:
• Purpose – What matters to me
• Freedom – Making my own choices
• Home – Having somewhere that feels safe and mine
• Help – Getting the right support
• Money – Having enough
• Love – Friends and relationships
• Life – Being part of the community
Throughout the day we will have:
• A Person Centred Planning workshop exploring Purpose
• A short film about someone finding their own home, followed by discussion
• Short talks linked to each Key
• Small group Speak Up activities
• Creative and accessible ways to share your voice
• Time to connect with others
• A relaxed one-hour lunch break
This event is about listening, learning and strengthening voices. We especially want to hear from people with lived experience.
Everything will be welcoming and accessible. There will be:
• Easy Read materials
• Supportive facilitators
• A calm and respectful environment
• Space to take breaks if needed
Places are limited to 50 people, so please book early.
