Hauser & Wirth Somerset is a pioneering world-class gallery and multi-purpose arts centre, which acts as a destination for experiencing art, architecture and the remarkable Somerset landscape through new and innovative exhibitions of contemporary art. A landscaped garden, designed for the gallery by internationally renowned landscape architect Piet Oudolf sits behind the gallery buildings.On-site restaurant, Roth Bar & Grill, serves seasonal, locally sourced food, and includes a site-specific bar created by Björn and Oddur Roth, the son and grandson of artist Dieter Roth. Durslade Farm Shop celebrates diverse produce from Durslade Farm as well as supporting local farmers, makers and growers in our community.Hauser & Wirth Somerset is open Tuesday – Sunday, with free admission to the public throughout the year.

Join us for a one-day event, featuring live throwing on the wheel led by ceramicist Lisa Hammond MBE and three of her former students.

The Maltings

Celebrating the distinct approaches of ceramicists Lisa Hammond MBE, Florian Gadsby, Francis Lloyd-Jones, and Darren Ellis, visitors will witness the making process and engage in conversations about aspects central to their work.Taking place 11 am – 4 pm in The Maltings, Hauser &amp; Wirth Somerset’s artist residency studios, attendees will be introduced to Hammond and her former apprentices, with a chance to discover more about their apprenticeships.For Lisa Hammond MBE, her personal commitment to sharing the expertise and skills of studio pottery with the next generation has driven her practice for decades. Providing an insight into a breadth of ceramic skills, together the makers will demonstrate their individual approaches and material knowledge.This event coincides with Make Hauser &amp; Wirth Somerset’s current exhibition ‘<a href="https://www.hauserwirth.com/make/36059-lisa-hammond-future-perfect/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Lisa Hammond: Future Perfect</a>’, extending the dialogue presented between mentor and apprentice. Visit the exhibition until 2 April 2022.Tickets are £5 per person and must be booked in advance. Under 12’s can attend for free.Please note there is no parking available at The Maltings . Free two-hour parking in Bruton is available in on the High Street, Tolbury Mill and Station Road. The studios are a 10 minute walk from Bruton train station.
