Overview

Free plant-based cooking for 16–25s. Relaxed, hands-on sessions, all food & tools provided, delicious meals cooked together and taken home.

Clay Kitchen – Free Cooking Sessions for 16–25s

Clay Kitchen is a free community cooking series for young people aged 16–25, focused on simple, back-to-basic cooking in a relaxed and welcoming space.

In this series, we’ll be batch cooking together — making food to eat on the night and extra to take home. Sessions are suitable for all levels, including complete beginners. There’s no pressure and no expectations — just cooking, eating and learning at a steady pace.

Planned sessions include:

  • Chickpea & coconut curry with rice and homemade naan
  • Veggie chilli with cornbread and salad
  • A sweet and savoury pie session for National Pie Week
  • Irish stew to celebrate St Patrick’s Day

All food and tools are provided.

Sessions are hosted by Denise and Matt, long-time plant-based food business owners who run The Gluten Free Pie Company, an established, multi-award-winning plant-based pie business. Denise has over 20 years’ experience working with food and community cooking, and Clay Kitchen draws on that practical, everyday knowledge rather than formal training or performance.

Alongside cooking, participants will also have the opportunity to sign up to a free pottery course, making your own plates, bowls and mugs to use with the food you cook. This will be led by a local potter, connecting food with making, creativity and everyday use.

Clay Kitchen is about learning useful life skills, spending time together and leaving with something practical — food to eat, food for later, and skills you can take away.

Come hungry. Leave fed — and with food for later.
