Join us in person to get hands-on and creative at the fun Clay Stacking Stone Workshop!
Clay Stacking Stone Workshop
Join us for a relaxed and creative evening making your own clay stacking stone, inspired by the rivers, burns and lochs that connect us to the wider River Forth landscape.
Using clay, you'll carve, decorate and add texture to create a unique stone that tells a story. You might choose to capture a favourite place, local wildlife, flowing water, plants, memories, or personal connections to our waterways. We'll also explore underglazes and oxides to add colour and bring your designs to life. No previous experience is needed - just come along and enjoy making something by hand.
What to expect
- Create your own hand-built clay stacking stone
- Learn simple carving, decorating and surface design techniques
- Use underglazes and oxides to add colour and detail
- Draw inspiration from the rivers, burns, wildlife and stories of our local landscape
- A relaxed, welcoming workshop suitable for all abilities
- All materials provided
Your stone will be taken away after the workshop to be professionally fired. Once ready, you'll be able to collect it from Elmbank Mill. If you'd like, you can also choose to have your stone included in the Forth₂0 exhibition at Elmbank Mill on Sunday the 30th of August.
