Listening circle exploring the topic of climate emergency
A listening circle for young people about the possibilities and challenges of global climate change. We will explore our stories, feelings and actions relating to climate change and the natural world. This is aimed to be a space to nurture positive action to help our environment.
The thoughts and realities of climate change can feel immense and, sometimes, overwhelming. These feelings can leave us frozen, disconnected or unsure how to act. In this circle we hope to offer space for the full range of emotions, from grief and fear to hope and inspiration, while gently exploring the perhaps simple changes we can make in our lives to care for our home.
There is an opportunity to arrive early to watch a screening of The People’s National Emergency Briefing about climate change before the circle if you have not seen it already.
The circle will be held in ‘The Way of Council’ form where a prompt will be offered to allow stories and experiences to arise, and we will speak one by one, with the help of a talking piece.
Our hope is to help create understanding and deep listening around a topic that is often challenging and full of opinions and strong feelings. This is an opportunity for everyone, especially those with quieter voices, to have a space to be heard, a space to listen and an opportunity to explore the individual action you may feel called to take.
