Lets D﻿o SomethingA Climate No BrainerThe charity aims to set up a Carbon Negative Food growing no dig horticulture demonstration project which uses biochar and wood chippings from community coppices worked on by Climate Conservation volunteers. Aimed at re-skilling young people through a portable skills school. Creating roots for an alternative local economy based on growing food and materials which can be sold at local markets. N﻿ote the date and bring a tent. A camp open to any volunteers interested in working and learning new skills: setting up carbon negative food growing, swale digging, hedge restoration, tools and sharpening, scything to control bracken and cut meadow grass.Skills share: basketry, spoon carving, field cooking...plus educational films and entertainment. In 2020 the charity agreed a 10 year lease on a 6 acre site to trial our project in Murton Swansea. This is a base for our portable skills school and an initial 1 acre growing area. This is only the beginning and there is still alot to do. The growing area will be an alley cropping system, long veg beds and perennial beds where trees and shrubs are planted next to swales. This site is full of wildlife and close to Bishops wood and Caswell beach. The field needs work to lay hedges, control bracken, dig swales for water conservation and plant trees.
