James has had over 15 years experience in outdoor activity leadership, coaching and guiding.He is a qualified mountain instructor, teaching climbing, abseiling, ice climbing and navigation skills. He is also a qualified canoeing and kayaking coach on rivers and at sea. He also teaches bushcraft and is a British Canoeing Camp Craft and Expedition Skills provider.The experience of being in nature can be uplifting and transformational. <h2>PRE-REQUISITES AND REGISTRATION</h2><p>Mountain Training requires that all students are registered with them prior to commencing the course.</p><p>Registration, course guidance notes and other resources <a href="https://www.mountain-training.org/qualifications/climbing/climbing-wall-instructor-abseil-module/" title="https://www.mountain-training.org/qualifications/climbing/climbing-wall-instructor-abseil-module/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">are available from Mountain Training here</a>.</p><h2>TRAINING</h2><p>The Abseil Module training lasts for 4 hours as a stand alone module and covers the Abseil Module syllabus.</p><h2>SYLLABUS</h2><p>Abseil Module holders should be competent in the following key areas, all of which will be covered, to a greater or lesser extent, during your training course.</p><p>Technical Competence (including equipment, belaying, abseiling)</p><p>Management and Decision Making (including planning, managing participants, managing other staff, decision making and knowledge and demonstration of techniques)</p><p>Teaching and Learning Skills</p><h2>ASSESSMENT</h2><p>Before you attend an Abseil Module assessment course, make sure you have done the following:</p><p>You must have attended an Abseil Module training course</p><p>You must have passed the <a href="https://mountainwise.co.uk/mountain-training/climbing-wall-instructor/" title="https://mountainwise.co.uk/mountain-training/climbing-wall-instructor/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Climbing Wall Instructor</a> assessment</p><p>You must have observed or assisted on a minimum of 5 abseil/top-rope sessions</p><p><br></p>
