When the clocks go back in October a lot of people can fall into depression and a state of panic, which can be due to the closing of the year, and the fact things get so much darker. Suddenly, the days are shorter and the lack of daylight can have a real impact on our mental health and wellbeing. Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is thought to affect nearly 2 million people in the UK and up to 12 million across Northern Europe.O﻿ur project aims to start a conversation around SAD and start to break the stigma around a mental health condition which is apparently common but, forgive the pun, kept in the dark. Sutton Mental Health Foundation and LB Sutton are hosting a celebration of light and dark, through a presentation of art and a short drama performance.&quot;Light and Shadows of the Season&quot; is an art project that aims to shed light on the emotional struggles and experiences of individuals living with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). Through a diverse range of visual artworks, digital short film and immersive experience exhibition, this project seeks to raise awareness and foster empathy for those affected by this often-misunderstood condition.Highlights<ul><li>Light and Shadows of the Seasons</li><li>Free food and drink</li><li>Human Library</li><li>Awareness of SAD</li><li>Signposting </li></ul> This event is part of the Light &amp; Dark Festival, which explores the theme of triumph of light over darkness and the hope for renewal and warmth during the coldest and darkest time of the year. The festival sheds light on the beauty of cultural diversity, the science behind illumination, and how creativity and technology can create a more captivating cultural experience for visitors.
