CloudStack European User Group
We're very excited to announce the summer 2016 meeting of the CloudStack European User group, this time kindly hosted by BIT.Group GmbH, at the Grand Hotel, Berlin. 
VENUE: The Grand Hotel, Hirtenstraße 4, 10178 Berlin. Nearest airport: Berlin Tegel (TGL). The Grand Hotel (<A HREF="http://www.the-grand-berlin.com" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">www.the-grand-berlin.com</A>) is very close to the airport, approximately 40 minutes by bus (direct transfer S+U Alexanderplatz Bhf/Memhardstr) and 5 Minutes walk to Event Location. A taxi should be around 25€.
As well as talks from guest speakers, there will be the chance to meet with other CloudStack users, lunch, and time to continue the discussions over a beer or two in the evening.

AGENDA & SPEAKERS
CloudStack - the best kept secret, Giles Sirett Giles will give his view on why CloudStack remains the "secret man" of IaaS projects. He will talk through the history of the technology and how it ended up becoming an Apache FOSS project and why he still believes it is the best, most stable production IaaS technology available today. He will be open and frank in his views on what he would like to see change in order for CloudStack to get the attention it deserves.
Fast SAP system provisioning based on CloudStack, Ingo Jochim/Andre Walter Ingo and Andre will talk about their experiences deploying CloudStack as a platform for fast and flexible SAP system provisioning. Focused on relevant examples, they will highlight lessons learnt, technologies used and integration with CloudStack. 
Storage Architectures for CloudStack, Andy Roberts In this talk Andy will discuss choosing the appropriate CloudStack storage layer for your deployment. There are an endless number of options available, and he will highlight the most important influencing factors and how to orchestrate/integrate easily in your CloudStack environment.  
 Creating a native Containers as a Service (CaaS) offering on CloudStack, Paul Angus Cloud native applications running in containerised environments look set to create a paradigm shift in the way compute resources are consumed. However, this presents challenges (both technical and business) to Cloud Service providers who have already invested heavily in Infrastructure as a Service offerings based on the virtual machine model. Paul will discuss these challenges, look at the services that end-users will demand in a containerised world and how major public cloud providers have overcome these challenges.  He will then preview an exciting new project that gives a simple method for operators to deploy Containers as a Service to their end-users, based on Apache CloudStack. 
ABOUT THE SPEAKERS: 
Giles Sirett is CEO and founder of ShapeBlue. He is a PMC member and committer in Apache CloudStack, and Chairman of the European Cloudstack User Group. He has worked with many high-profile organisations, helping them strategise, design and implement CloudStack based clouds. Giles is an active contributor to the Apache CloudStack project and has spoken at all Apache CloudStack Collaboration conferences, “Build an Open-source Cloud days” and many other events on the subject. When not boring his friends about CloudStack, Giles can be heard regularly boring people about his quest to become British Masters 100m freestyle champion. Don’t ask! 
Ingo Jochim has worked for BIT.Group GmbH as Senior Architect in Dresden since 2010, focusing on implementation and automation of large cloud environments. Ingo has more than 15 years experience in data center operations and likes Enduro off-road races.  
Andre Walter has been with BIT for 4 years now, previously engaged at SAP focusing on Software on Demand Solutions and bringing it into production. He leads Cloud Services, which runs 24x7 Infrastructure Services out of Dresden and Shanghai, and  has been implementing CloudStack successfully since 2014. When not at work, you might see him training for a Marathon. 
Andy Roberts is field architect for SolidFire International London-based EMEA headquarters. SolidFire's first systems engineer outside of North America, Andy focuses on helping customers understand the benefits SolidFire provides in OpenStack, CloudStack, and VMware solutions. Andy has more than 15 years of industry experience in the Internet and publishing verticals. He spent nine of them at NetApp building storage solutions for major service provider and systems integrator customers. He is also both a frequent wearer and distributor of SolidFire socks. 
Paul Angus is VP Technology / Cloud Architect for ShapeBlue and an Apache CloudStack Committer. He consults with a number of large service providers and enterprises and is responsible for ShapeBlue's technical strategy. Paul regularly speaks at CloudStack conferences as well as for Ansible at a number of events. Paul has worked with clients such as Centrica, Orange Telecom, SunGard AS, Slovak Telecom, Paddy Power, Sky, TomTom, SAP and British Telecom.
