Clyde Alive Programme
Series of events, workshops and walks from the Clyde Alive Group during Watershed at the Briggait
Clyde Alive is a group of artists and activists looking at urban commons and right of access to the River Clyde, with a focus on the section to the east of the Weir at Glasgow Green as far as Cuningar Loop.
Their project explores the river as it flows through Glasgow’s East End, telling the story of its past and imagining its future. They will be mapping the river banks, investigating crimes against the watercourse, and demanding reparations.
During Watershed, they will occupy the Briggait’s Gallery and Main Hall to develop their work and ongoing engagement through workshops, walks, talks, zines, performance and song.
Look out for the group’s developing ‘Declaration of the Rights of the Clyde’. This will lead to a procession and collective ritual symbolically granting legal personhood to the river, with leaping salmon puppets and song during Watershed’s final event on Sunday 2nd August.
Come along to the Briggait to follow their ongoing activities - and take part in this immersive Clyde journey towards a healthy river, a healthy population and a healthy economy.
