<p>Are you a woman or non-binary individual interested in or already learning how to code? Or already a developer? If so, welcome to Code and Stuff. </p><p>We aim to help attendees starting their coding journey with any of their tech related goals or queries. Examples:</p><ul><li>I'm a total beginner and don't know where to start</li><li>I'm attending a coding bootcamp/formal education and would like some extra help on a project</li><li>I'm independently learning how to code and finding some topics tough</li><li>I would like some advice on finding a job in the tech industry</li><li>I would like some help preparing for interviews</li></ul><p><strong>This bi-weekly event is for women and non-binary people, but we also welcome allies of all genders to help with mentoring!</strong></p>

<h2>Agenda:</h2><p>• 5.30pm - 6.00pm: Arrival, drinks, snacks, networking</p><p>• 6.00pm - 6.15pm: Stand-up (brief introductions)</p><p>• 6.15pm - 8.00pm: Coding and mentoring</p><p>• 8.00pm - 8.15pm: Stand-down (brief round up)</p>

<h2>What do you need to know?</h2><ul><li>The sessions are completely free</li></ul><ul><li>Bring your laptop (and charger)</li></ul><ul><li>We will provide some drinks and light snacks.</li></ul><ul><li>It's okay if you've never coded before, we will help get you started.</li></ul>

<h3>Job Hunting?</h3><p>One of the most most challenging hurdles when switching to a career in tech, <strong>is landing your first job</strong>.</p><p>We can help with:</p><ul><li>Reviewing your CV</li><li>Preparing for technical interviews</li><li>Practice unit testing and pair programming</li></ul><h3>Junior Developer</h3><p>Even once you land your first job, it can be useful to be part of a learning community. Maybe you want to improve certain programming skills, or learn a new language, or framework.</p>

<h2>Mentoring</h2><p>We  welcome <strong>allies of all genders</strong> to help with <strong>mentoring</strong>! If you are currently a software developer, or work in tech, and want to help others do the same, then please sign up as a mentor.</p>

<h2>Hosted by Jaguar Land Rover</h2><p>We are delighted to be hosted by <strong>Jaguar Land Rover</strong>. <strong>JLR</strong> are an iconic British car manufacturer, and have been helping Code and Stuff host events in Manchester since 2019. They have a growing digital presence in Manchester, where they work on innovative technology to power customers cars, and help improve manufacturing processes.</p><p><strong>JLR</strong> shares our passion for diversity in the work place.</p><p>Their offices in central Manchester provide a fantastic space for learning and collaboration.</p>

<h2>About Code and Stuff</h2><p>We want to make tech more diverse and welcome more women and non-binary people to Tech by bringing those who are learning how to code or are interested in learning how to code together and helping you grow your coding skill.</p><p>So come along and learn how to code (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc) during our coding session with the help of an experienced mentor and various online resources and platforms.</p><p>Code and Stuff was started over 3 years ago, and has run over 100 coding events, both in person and online. We have helped hundreds of people on their coding journeys, and hope to help many more in the future.</p><p></p>

To do so, we ask you to treat others as you expect to be treated. Any threatening, sexual, bullying or generally harassing behaviours are taken very seriously and if you are found exhibiting any you will be asked to leave. If you are ever made to feel uncomfortable due to the behaviour of another participant, the organisers and mentors will be there to support you in a non-judgemental and confidential way.
