Code Your Own Robot | Workshop (at Science and Engineering Day)
Code your own autonomous, line-following robot with Southampton Robotics Outreach!
Join students and staff from the School of Electronics and Computer Science for this interactive workshop during which you will use a block-based visual programming environment to code an autonomous micro:bit robot which will follow a line around our bespoke arena.
You'll learn basic programming concepts like control and loop structures, as well as concepts specific to controlling our robots, like motor and sensor control, and then put them into practice with help and support from our friendly volunteers.
Then, we'll time your robot and see how fast you can make it around our track, after which there will be some time for you to go back and work on your software design to see if you can do even better!
Workshop Times: 11:00; 12:00; 13:00; 14:00, 15:00, 16:00
Run Time: Approximately 45 minutes
Suitability: 11+
PLEASE NOTE:
- a few additional tickets for each workshop will be available on the date, just outside the room in Building 58, on a first-come-first-served basis;
- in case the tickets for this show and other timed activities are sold out, please note there are 150 other activities to enjoy during the day!
Accessibility: : For more information, visit our dedicated Accessibility page.
PLEASE NOTE: This ticket just gives you access to the workshop. If you haven't already done so, you will need to book a FREE general admission ticket for Science and Engineering Day to complete your registration to the festival, by filling the form HERE.
