Course Description

Introducing coding at a young age is very important, but it can often seem too difficult to teach at Foundation or be overlooked and passed over. In this session we will walk you through the best ways to teach computational thinking, give you unplugged (paper based) activities that can easily be adapted for any topic you are teaching, share some good practice from other schools around incorporating into play time, and introduce you to some games based apps suitable for this age group. Apps being demonstrated: Hopster Coding Safari, Code-a-pillar, Scratch Jr.

Resources/Materials/Apps Required :

• A computer/mobile device with the Zoom app installed
• A separate computer/device to access apps being demonstrated: Hopster Coding Safari, Code-a-pillar, Scratch Jr.(optional)

Other Information

This course will run from 2pm until approximately 3:30pm and will take place on Zoom. Eventbrite will send you the link to the event content in your order confirmation email, and in a reminder email before the event starts.

Please note, this course is only open to teachers, classroom assistants and school technicians working in Northern Ireland.
