Collaborating with External Partners

Overview

Join our cross-faculty workshop to see how BU researchers and staff build lasting partnerships with industry, government, and beyond.

Facilitators: Rachel Clarke, Matt Desmier, Finn Morgan

Summary:

This cross-faculty workshop brings together postgraduate researchers, postdoctoral researchers and staff to explore how colleagues across Bournemouth University have built meaningful, long-term partnerships with industry, government and other organisations. Through a series of short, practical examples, we will look at how different people/teams were invited to contribute to external projects, how they aligned their expertise with real-world needs, and how their research or data became part of wider initiatives.

The session will focus on the practicalities: how these connections began, what helped them grow, and the approaches that have kept them strong over time.

Attendees will leave with:

• Clear insights into how successful partnerships at BU were developed

• Practical ideas for starting conversations and shaping collaborations

• Understanding of how your research and expertise can connect to existing projects

• Confidence to build relationships that create impact and lasting value
