Event description

Description

This course is designed for both teachers who have already introduced coding into the classroom, and also for those teachers who are not too sure how to go about it. The course will take you step by step through the basics of how to introduce and enhance coding in your class, as well as developing existing skills and building on your own knowledge. We will look at various coding tools such as Scratch, Hopscotch, Tynker and Codeable Crafts. Towards the end of the day we will look at various robots, along with demonstrations which you could use to enhance engagement and skills within the classroom. By the end of this course you will have created your very own game, puzzle and digital storybook, all of which are curriculum linked, ready for you to use and tryout with your own class.

This course is aimed to support you as a teacher, to develop your confidence and also to share with other teachers the problems you might be facing in terms of coding within the classroom. This problem could simply be your own lack of confidence within the area. Our aim is to help support you with this, so that by the end of the session you feel equipped and ready to tackle coding within the classroom, or to take your coding within the classroom to the next level.

It would be of great benefit if you come with a topic/project in mind of which you would like to use coding. This means that we can help you develop this throughout the day.
