Collective Acting Studio Masterclasses

Collective Acting Studio Masterclasses

Midlands Arts CentreBirmingham, England
Saturday, Mar 14 from 10 am to 1 pm GMT
Overview

Come join us for a taste of Birmingham at our fun in-person taster session!

Join us for two masterclasses at the MAC on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM with Collective Founder: Paul Harvard

With Acting Fundamentals, you will explore key concepts and techniques including: acting as reacting, how to break down a text, embodying a character, responding truthfully in the moment – and finding a real emotional connection.

Introduction to Screen Acting will allow you to discover the skills, knowledge and technique needed to deliver top-level screen performances. The session will mirror the intensity and discipline of working on set, so you can develop the confidence and resilience needed to deliver great acting performances in front of the camera.

For those new to screen acting, key fundamentals such as hitting your mark, continuity and adjusting your performance for different sizes of shot will be explored.

Our approach to screen acting synthesises exercises from some of the greatest practitioners, including Stanislavski, Meisner, Hagen, Adler, Laban and Katie Mitchell – whilst incorporating practical tips and advice from renowned screen actors and filmmakers.

Actors who have at Collective in the last three years have worked in Hollywood films, on Broadway, for the National Theatre, in the West End and in series for Netflix, HBO, BBC, ITV and Channel 4.

We are passionate about working with actors from underrepresented groups and we will always seek to break down barriers to access in professional actor-training.

Scholarship places are available for those who are facing challenging circumstances.
