Muzzool is a customer interaction tool that allows a wide range of musicians (e.g. buskers) to engage with their audience in real-time. The tool allows the audience to engage with a musician by taking them to a web based app where they can do a range of activities such as tip the musician, follow them on social media, request a song, etc.
 
The idea of allowing audiences to digitally interact with the musicians they’re listening to in real time is novel. Muzzool is the first platform to provide access to Apple Pay and Google Pay so that audiences can tip a musician as they play.
 
Muzzool is exploring creative new solutions to help buskers better engage with their audience. In this design collider we will identify the pain points of Muzzool in their interaction design, and explore how listeners interact with musicians to deliver potential solutions. This is a vital stage in designing a product that effectively meets the needs of musicians with the latest technology available.
 
This Collider will bring together businesses, academics and designers to see how we can work together and come up with creative solutions. Presentations by Jen Ross, Richard Coyne and Eric Laurier will set the scene.
 
A collider is a conceptual design event, bringing together computational thinking and design thinking, to pull informaticians together with designers, and problem holders. The first part of the Collider sets the scene before breaking out into workshop sessions.

<A HREF="https://www.ed.ac.uk/profile/jen-ross" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Jen Ross</A> - Jen is Co-Director for the Centre for Research in Digital Education  (Digital Cultures), and academic lead of the Digital Cultural Heritage Research Network. Jen's research interests lie in online and open education, digital cultural heritage learning, digital cultures and futures, and online reflective practices.
 
<A HREF="https://www.eca.ed.ac.uk/profile/prof-richard-coyne" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Richard Coyne</A> – Richard is Professor of Architectural Computing at the University, Richard is animated by the cultural, social and spatial implications of computers and pervasive digital media. He enjoys architecture, writing, blogging, designing, philosophy, coding and media mashups.
 
<A HREF="https://www.ed.ac.uk/geosciences/people?indv=1049" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Eric Laurier</A> – Eric is Reader in Geography & Interaction, at the Institute of Geography & the Lived Environment, at the University, where is expertise through cultural theory to ethnomethodology supports enquiries across visual aspects of interaction, public space, mobility, workplaces, and everyday life in the city.
