Colour Linocut workshop (weekend)
Learn how to make multiblock linocuts in colour with Nick Morley (Linocutboy). Suitable for beginners and those with some experience.
In this two day workshop you will learn how to carve and print a multiblock linocut in colour, under the expert guidance of Nick Morley (aka Linocutboy)
Linocut is a printmaking technique which can easily be practised at home. Although the basic principles of linocut are easy to learn, there are several things the beginner needs to know in order to produce successful prints.
In this workshop you will learn:
- Which tools and materials to buy
- How to plan your image and transfer it to the lino block
- How to safely use a range of cutting tools to create a range of marks
- How to ink the block correctly
- How to print by hand (wooden spoon) and with a printing press
- Planning a multiblock design and working in layers
- Colour mixing and colour blends
- Registration
By the end of the workshop you will have a small edition of your print (A5 size) to take home and the knowledge and skills to continue making linocuts at home.
This workshop is suitable for beginners and those with some previous experience. Maximum class size is 4 people.
Schedule
The workshop runs from 10am to 4.30pm on Saturday and Sunday. We take a 45 min lunch break around 12.30/1pm
