Welcome to our Climate Disinformation Event!New York Climate Week provides an opportunity to convene GWEC, OEP and Invenergy to progress the development of collective strategies to counter dis/misinformation related to wind energy together with project developers, communications and advocacy professionals, civil society organisations, environmental / biodiversity conservation groups, climate activists, journalists and government representativesConducting this event on the East Coast of the United States, ahead of the election, and where the nascent offshore wind industry has been the subject of mis/disinformation, provides an opportunity to give this challenge increased exposure. Event ObjectivesBuild on relationships and alignment between the organisations present at Wilton Park, to convene for a public event to provide increased exposure to the systematic nature of disinformation against the development of wind energy.Engage a wider stakeholder group to include more government representatives and journalists in this event, to join the community of organisations working on collective counter-disinformation strategies on global, regional and national levels.Progress ‘coalition approach’ proposed at Wilton Park with a public communication following the event, signalling the critical mass of and diversity of the group coordinating efforts. Join us for a session filled with insightful discussions and presentations on the impact of disinformation on wind energy and climate change. Our event aims to debunk myths and provide accurate information on these crucial topics. Come network with experts and enthusiasts in the field.
