Comic ○ Zine Workshop

Comic ○ Zine Workshop

The Create PlaceLondon, England
Sunday, Mar 29 from 2 pm to 4 pm GMT+1
Overview

Learn how to tell a comic strip-style story in just three mini zine panels – no drawing skills needed!

Ever wanted to make your own comic but didn’t know where to start? In this workshop, we will explore how to turn mini zines into mini comics through warm-up activities, creative prompts, and a relaxed block of time to bring your three-panel story to life! ✍

We'll play around with panel formats, character creation, and narratives – no drawing skills required! And we'll have a special guest comic illustrator, Evie McCutcheon, with us who can help give you some tips and tricks along the way.

Comics can capture everything from everyday moments to the wild adventures you experience in your dreams, using collage, doodles, and simple storytelling tricks. So whether you’re into superheroes, slice-of-life scenes, or absurd humor, this is your space to experiment and create.

You do not need any prior experience to take part (though we always do like to welcome back familiar faces!). Embrace the element of chance, make new like-minded friends, join our supportive community, and most importantly – have fun delving into the zine-making process!

We are releasing a range of ticket price options in the hope that everyone will be able to take part. There are a limited number of each ticket option available, therefore we kindly ask that you do an honest assessment of your affordability to ensure the intended equal access.

Here's a guide to help inform your choice:

✴️ £10 (covers some of our costs) – I am a student, unemployed, on benefits, financially stressed, or regularly struggle to meet my basic needs

✴️ £12 (covers most of our costs) – I am employed, have some expendable income, and manage to meet my basic needs

✴️ £15 (covers all of our costs and supports future workshops) – I am employed or have enough savings to comfortably meet my basic needs

Evie McCutcheon is is a character design artist and comic illustrator living in the Scottish Highlands with her three cats and an unending list of creative ideas.

Evie’s art journey started after her diagnosis of Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, aged 13. Since then Evie has been using art as a platform for personal growth, health awareness, and to bring brightness and cheer to the world.

To see and support Evie’s work, you can head straight to her Ko-fi page. Every sale and donation is greatly appreciated, since the money earned from these will go directly towards funding more art, zines, comics, and disability-related living costs.
