The Glass-House Community Led Design is a national charity dedicated to connecting people with the design of their places, and connecting design with people. For over two decades, we have supported communities, organisations and networks to work collaboratively to shape buildings, spaces, homes and neighbourhoods.The Glass-House sees design not only as a tool for creating great places, but also as a way to connect people and empower them with enhanced confidence, skills and a greater sense of agency. We provide hands-on support and training, share knowledge and learning, and inspire new thinking and debate through action research, events and resources.

Sharing Place - WEdesign Series 2024/25

WEdesign is The Glass-House’s annual series of free interactive public events, held online and in-person in cities across the UK, where we explore collaborative design in placemaking through discussion, debate and playful co-design activities.

Common Ground will seek to uncover and build upon the shared starting points that unite us. In an era of increasing societal division, it’s vital to recognise that connections still exist across our communities. A recent report from Britain's Choice highlighted that "protecting our environment and acting on climate change concerns all of us... even if sometimes, we might use different words to describe why"Common ground is not just an idea; it’s a tangible reality. The spaces we share, our neighbourhoods, towns, and cities, hold the potential to bring people together and foster collaborative action, enhancing lives and livelihoods for all.Join us for this free co-design event in collaboration with <a href="https://liveworks.ssoa.info/" title="https://liveworks.ssoa.info/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Live Works</a> and students and tutors from the <a href="https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/architecture-landscape" title="https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/architecture-landscape" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">University of Sheffield’s School of Architecture and Landscape</a>, to discuss and create opportunities to develop shared visions for turning common ground into places for everyone to flourish. These events are co-facilitated by students from our WEdesign Student Programme, in collaboration with our partner universities in cities across the UK.
