Comms in 2018: Perception vs Reality
Event Information
Description
CIPR NI is delighted to welcome Dan Slee from comms2point0 to Belfast to deliver an informative and thought-provoking session on the wider media landscape and how people are consuming the media in Northern Ireland, the UK in general, and how we need to be adapting to those trends, and how to do that.
Dan will look at where video fits in the comms mix and how, representing 80% of content online, this shouldn't be ignored. PLUS he will provide industry-leading examples of how to use video effectively and provide ideas for consideration when planning and developing your own/client strategies.
Where does social media sit? Dan will explore this and provide an overview of how each channel can be effective in its own right. PLUS some examples of best practice in this field and how we can grasp an understanding of the algorithm.
Now, more than ever, communicators have to know where Facebook needs to sit in a comms strategy, in particular Facebook groups. PLUS Dan will share some exclusive research to help shape your approach with Facebook groups.
As technology develops at an ever-quickening pace, Dan will discuss how Artificial Intelligence (AI) plays a role in the comms landscape and how it will affect you as it, and the tech we are used to, continue to evolve.
This event is perfectly suited for all communicators, from junior staff to heads of department, who are looking to future-proof their skills and move from a "traditional" to a more 2018 model of communicating. This event may be of special interest to those working in-house or in the public sector.
Dan Slee has spent more than 20 years working for, and with, the media as a journalist and holding a senior public sector communications role. A former Guardian 'Public Sector Leaders' editorial board member, he co-founded comms2point0 six years ago. He has worked with more than 100 organisations over the past four years. He also founded the annual commscamp event and is a CIPR member and RSA Fellow.
Places are limited so pre-booking is essential. Lunch will be provided on arrival.
