In support of our <A HREF="http://www.gla.ac.uk/colleges/mvls/researchimpact/competitions/impactin60seconds2016/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Impact in 60 Seconds competition</A>, we are delighted to welcome visitors from the BBC t talk to our Post Doctoral and Post Graduate Students on Monday 24th October. RTS and BAFTA Scotland award-winning Matt Barrett, a Producer/Director in BBC Science and Jane McLaughlin, Talent Manager for the BBC Science and Factual team will talk about the importance of being able to communicate your research and also to showcase opportunities for graduates in the field of broadcast media. 
This is in partnership with our Impact in 60 Seconds competition, which invites early-career researchers to make an original video explaining their research to be understood by the public. This competition is one of a host of initiatives that the College introduced as part of our commitment to the BBSRC Excellence with Impact competition, in which we were ranked top University. The closing date for this competition has been extended to 31st October 2016.
Matt and Jane will give a short presentation and will then take questions from the audience. The talk will be followed by drinks in the Atrium of the Wolfson Medical School, where I will also be available to answer any questions on any aspects of the competition.
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain expertise on communicating your research with stakeholders as well as exploring potential career opportunities.
