Manchester Parent Carer Forum (MPCF formerly PACT) is funded by the Department for Education and aims to work in partnership with Manchester City Council, Health and Education settings to shape and influence services, to ensure they are fit for purpose and meet the needs of disabled children, young people and their families living in Manchester.MPCF understands the day to day challenges faced by parent-carers, as we are parent-carers too. The aim of MPCF is to give parent-carers a voice and to make their views heard in the improvement of services for our children.

Social Communication Pathway ParentCarer Workshops

The Social Communication Pathway (SCP) Workshops are informational workshops that are offered for FREE by Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) to parents & carers in Manchester who are interested in learning more about neurodiversity.

This session is aimed at PRIMARY school-aged children.The information will be delivered through a PowerPoint presentation, in addition to some small group work which will provide opportunities for discussing examples.We do encourage you to ask questions as these sessions are to enable you to gain knowledge about available support and resources.This session will include:<ul><li>We will consider language and communication strategies.</li><li>Understanding what behaviour your child may be communicating</li><li>How to promote language and communication development</li><li>Signposting to useful sources of help and resources</li></ul>Biscuits, tea and coffee will be provided. However, lunch isn't covered so please make sure to bring your own food for the lunch break.If you need an interpreter to access the session, please email <a href="mailto:mft.scppostdiagnosticworkshops@nhs.net" title="mailto:mft.scppostdiagnosticworkshops@nhs.net" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">mft.scppostdiagnosticworkshops@nhs.net</a> with at least a week’s notice before the session.
