Community Currents Workshop: Dorton, Chearsley, Waddesdon Brooks

Community Currents Workshop: Dorton, Chearsley, Waddesdon Brooks

Waddesdon HallWaddesdon, England
Tuesday, Jan 20, 2026 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm GMT
Overview

Connect with your community to explore river health, discuss restoration opportunities, and take action to protect your local watercourse.

Because the River Thame covers such a large area, River Thame Conservation Trust is hosting a series of workshops, each focused on specific sub-catchment areas to address local challenges.

For this session, we’re inviting residents from Brill, Dorton, Cuddington, Stone, Haddenham, Upper Pollicott, Ashendon, Lower Pollicot, Chilton, Easington, Chearsley, Nether Winchendon, Upper Winchendon, Westcott, Dinton, Hartwell, Fairford Leys, Berryfields, Waddesdon and the surrounding area to come together for a friendly, interactive workshop all about the Dorton, Chearsley and Waddesdon Brooks and the Mid River Thame area.

Whether you’re a current RTCT volunteer, a farmer, a local councillor, a community leader, or someone simply curious about your local rivers, this is a great opportunity to meet like-minded people, learn something new, and help shape a healthier future for our rivers.

In this workshop, we will explore:

  • What we know: The River Thame Conservation Trust team will share what we know about the ecology, health, and water quality of these river systems. We'll also invite you to share your local knowledge and identify gaps in our data and understanding.
  • Local Challenges: We'll discuss key issues and challenges faced by your local rivers and streams.
  • Collective Goals: We'll brainstorm and share what positive changes we want to achieve.
  • Community Action: From small actions to bigger project ideas, we'll come up with potential pathways for creating positive change through things like Neighbourhood Plans, wildlife recording efforts, awareness campaigns and other community-driven initiatives.

Parking

  • Waddesdon Hall has a small dedicated car park.
