About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

Local building services engineers from Max Fordham, in partnership with Sparks/Bristol Energy Network will deliver a talk on energy saving, home retrofit and sustainable technologies. The aim of this talk is to educate people on the opportunities and resources available to them to improve the comfort and emissions of their home.

The UK has some of the worst performing building stock in Europe, with poorly insulated homes leading to high heating bills. There is a need to improve this, and many resources are available to do so. This talk will help navigate the options on a domestic scale, at whatever cost/intervention level people are prepared for. The presentation will explore:

  • Easy upgrades, e.g draughtproofing
  • How you can better control your heating system and operation
  • Retrofit options: window upgrades, insulation
  • Demystifying heat pumps: cost and carbon benefits, funding options
  • Solar panels: Installation cost, reduction of bills
  • Break out groups to discuss topics and raise specific questions

While this talk includes some technical content, it is aimed at the general public and no prior knowledge is expected. The event is ticketed, but free to attend.
