Community Event - Holocaust Memorial Day Commemoration 2026
Please join Kingston Faith & Belief Forum and the community on Sunday 25 January from1.30 - 4pm to commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day 2026
Venue: Glenmore House, 6 The Crescent, Surbiton, Surrey KT6 4BN
Date and time: Sunday 25 January 2026 from 1.30pm - 4pm
Overview: Please join us in marking Holocaust Memorial Day 2026. This is an important inter-faith and community event that provides an opportunity to learn the lessons of the past, honour the experiences of people affected by the Holocaust and genocide, and challenge ourselves to work for a safer and fairer future. The theme is 'Bridging Generations'.
Guest speaker: We are honoured to be joined by Holocaust survivor, Peter Lantos BEM. Peter Laszlo Lantos BEM FMedSci (born 1939) is a British scientist and author of Hungarian Jewish origin. After surviving the Holocaust, he went on to undertake medical studies. He moved to the United Kingdom in 1968 where he worked as a Professor of Neuropathology, specialising in neurodegenerative diseases. Apart from research, he was also responsible for the neuropathology diagnostic service covering a catchment area of 3.4 million people. In retirement, he has published books for both adults and children relating to his experience of the Holocaust and he is involved in Holocaust education.
Parking and accessibility: Parking and disabled parking bays are available on a first come first served basis. There is a ramp at the back of the building and an accessible toilet (including baby changing facilities).
Tickets are free but you must register your attendance.
A full programme will be shared with all registered attendees. Refreshments will be served.
