<p>Join the <a href="https://www.fablabplymouth.org/projects/smart-citizens-programme/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Smart Citizens’ team</a> for our first community meet-up, hosted in collaboration with the Preventing Plastic Pollution Project.</p><p>Through this interactive, online event we will hear how projects across Plymouth are developing innovative solutions to reduce and reuse plastic waste, such as our guest speakers from Precious Plastics Plymouth and 1000 Tyres Project. We will also come together to explore how technology, from coding to 3D printing, can support communities and initiatives to reduce plastic pollution in Plymouth.</p><p>Whether you’d like to share your ideas and projects or discover new opportunities, join us to connect with local people and initiatives and explore how, together with technology, we can tackle the challenge of plastic waste.</p><p></p><h3>Agenda</h3><ul><li>Welcome from Smart Citizens &amp; Preventing Plastic Pollution</li><li>Interactive introductions</li><li>Guest speakers: Inspiring actions to reduce plastic pollution</li><li>Comfort break</li><li>Collaborative workshop: How can we use tech to reduce and reuse plastic waste?</li></ul><p></p><p><em>Please note: this event will be hosted through Google Meet and Miro (no sign-up for either required). <h3>About the Smart Citizens Programme</h3><p>Part of the wider <a href="https://www.visitplymouth.co.uk/invest/why-plymouth/creative-digital-city" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">iMayflower</a> project, Smart Citizens is a programme of free events, workshops and training in digital design and fabrication based at Fab Lab Plymouth. Connecting citizens and enterprises with digital technologies skills, the programme empowers a community of citizen makers and champions innovative design solutions to create a more sustainable Plymouth.</p><p>Every month Smart Citizens will host a community meet-up, joining up technology with one of the programme’s themes, such as: agri-food, conservation and environment, art and creativity, health and wellbeing, experimental manufacturing, FabCity, urban innovations and more. <h3>About Preventing Plastic Pollution</h3><p>Working in partnership with 18 organisations from across France and England, Preventing Plastic Pollution seeks to understand and reduce the impacts of plastic pollution in the marine environment. By looking at the catchment from source to sea, the project will identify and target hotspots for plastic, embed behaviour change in local communities and businesses, and implement effective solutions and alternatives. <a href="https://preventingplasticpollution.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Learn more.</a></p>
