Community Science Day at Speen's Tiny Forest!
Come and take part in some scientific research at your local Tiny Forest!
Earthwatch invites you to attend your local Tiny Forest’s community science event.
With the help of you - our citizen scientists - we are monitoring five key benefits across each of our 17 UK Tiny Forests. Specifically looking at how the forests change over time and how they differ per location.
We are researching:
• Carbon capture: how much carbon a Tiny Forest sequesters and stores
• Flood management: the forest’s ability to store water
• Biodiversity: focussing on butterflies, pollinators and soil-dwelling organisms
• Thermal comfort: the cooling benefits of the trees
• Wellbeing: conducting social surveys with volunteers
So please come along and get stuck in to some research and collect data on the Tiny Forest to support our ongoing research.
Location: 51°24'18.0"N 1°20'27.6"W (link here to Google Maps)
Each scientific test takes around 15 minutes, so feel free to stay for one or two, or stay for longer and take part in each one we have on offer!
All events will be managed in line with current Government COVID-19 guidelines to create a safe day for all.
Please note, hand sanitiser will be provided on site.
