Compassionate Communication

May and Mary are two of Wood School's directors and founders of Wood School seven years ago. They are passionate about helping children learn. Wood School seeks to support children to grow into compassionate adults - able to contribute to society in a way which gives them and others meaning and fulfillment.

An invitation to a two day training event on Compassionate Communication (sometimes known as Non Violent Communication). This event is open to anyone who works or lives with children. To be held on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th of May 2018 from 9.30 to 5pm each day. 
Led by trainer Sarah Ludford (http://www.connectwithcompassion.com/) this is a core introductory course for this approach.
Together we will learn the key components of Compassionate Communion. We will share examples of the kinds of behaviour we find challenging in children. We will seek to understand the causes of this behaviour – to see what children are deeply needing when they behave in these ways. We will look at our own patterned responses to this behaviour and see how separating out 'observations', 'feelings' and 'needs', offers a skillful alternative approach. Responding not from ‘right and wrong’ thinking or rewards and punishment, but from an empathetic place that values connection, leading to a more nourishing engagement with the difficulties we face as parents and carers of children. 
The cost of the course is £150 per person.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
The venue is The Beehive, Cringle Park, Levenshulme, Manchester, M19 2QP.  The venue is a brick building in the middle of the park near the tennis courts.  The nearest places to park are on the side roads which have unrestricted parking eg: Crompton and Ranford Road
What can I bring into the event?
There is a small kitchen with kettle, toaster and microwave.  Please bring your own lunch and drinks.  Milk, some teas/coffee and biscuits will be available.
