Ilia Teimouri

ComplexiLate is a periodic event for young researchers to meet and present their work. It attracts postdocs and graduate students from the London universities and the London Institute. Each event is based around a specific research theme with three 15-minute talks. ComplexiLate takes place in the evening and is followed by extensive discussion and drinks at the London Institute.
Theme: Modified Gravity and Applications
Despite of the successes of the general theory of relativity in predicting complex natural phenomena such as the recent discovery of gravitational waves, this theory suffers from number of issues; from cosmological to black hole singularities at classical levels to UV completeness at quantum level. These shortcomings encouraged scientists to work extensively to address the existing problems. One approach is to modify the original general theory of Einstein’s gravity at action level. Doing so gives meaning to the so called modified gravity. There are various theories of modified gravity out there, each with advantages and disadvantages.
In this episode of ComplexiLate talks we shall shed light on the topic of modified gravity and its applications. This session would be open to whoever is interested in gravity regardless of their academic background.

The talk will not need to be technical this would be an introduction to modified gravity and its applications to a wider audience. 
 
Schedule: 
17:30 - 18:00 : Arrival and Drink. 
18:00 - 18:20 : First Talk. 
18:20 - 18:40 : Second Talk.
18:40 - 19:00 : Third Talk. 
19:00 - 19:30 : General Dicussion over Drinks & Nibbles.
