At our October meeting, you can try some physical computing activities on the Raspberry Pi using the GPIO pins. Using the MonkMakes kits you can connect the virtual world to the real world using LEDs, switches, temperature sensors etc. Some kits will be available for purchase if required. This is an informal relaxed meeting with strong social elements and an opportunity for teachers to share solutions to problems with each other.
Help influence the agenda of our future meetings, by suggesting or requesting a focus for the meeting, eg. KS1 Computing, GCSE Computing, CS Unplugged, Raspberry Pi, Python. Please note that registration is required in advance.
This event is probably most relevant to teachers of Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 4 Computing - but is open to other participants. The Preston Raspberry Jam event follows after from 6.00-9.00pm.
Directions: this event will be held in UCLan's Media Innovation Studio (photos) on the 4th floor of the Media Factory Building which is just off Kirkham Street. It's a 7min walk from Preston train station or 10min from the bus station. Directions to Media Factory.
Parking: If you register by 3.30pm Monday 19th September, we can reserve you a free parking space at Foster Building car park (map). Alternatively, there is free limited parking on the surrounding streets (Victoria St & Harrington St), Pay & Display (£1 per hour on Adelphi St between Victoria & Harrington St) and free street parking outside the venue from 6.30pm.
