Learn to incorporate light up LED's into embroidery

In this workshop you will learn the traditional craft of hand embroidery. I will guide you through the basics of hand embroidery, helping you to create your own design using a variety of stitches including back stitch, chain stitch and blanket stitch. Once you have completed your embroidered design onto calico fabric, you will learn how to create a soft circuit using conductive thread to light up the LED within your design.Materials: All materials and equipment will be provided.Who is it For: The class is suitable for everyone with an interest in embroidery people who have no embroidery experience or haven’t embroidered for a while and want to brush up on their skills. We have a concession rate, and also a number of free tickets avalible for those who would otherwise be unable to attend please contact curator@crescentarts.co.ukLocation: Conference Room, Woodend, Creative Space. The venue is accessible with step-free access, and disabled parking avalible. If you need to cancel for this reason, you will be refunded.Tickets: We want our events to be as accessible as possible, so are offered on a sliding scale. Please pay what you can afford, all ticket costs help support the organisation and put on future similar events.Artist Bio: Hayley Mills-Styles is a textile artist and tutor based in Scarborough with a passion for embroidery. She has been stitching since childhood and loves to pass on these traditional skills with a contemporary twist. Alongside her teaching, Hayley creates artwork for public and private commissions and helps people to find their creative voice in community projects. Hayley has a degree in Textile Crafts from the University of Huddersfield and a Masters in Textiles from Manchester School of Art.
