Event description

Description

Join artist/maker Alison Smith to make conductive thread circuits and create playful, flashing toy accessories for Toybox! Toybox is a curious toy collecting shipping container who will be touring Leeds over the coming year gathering and sharing stories of toys, play and childhood, whilst delivering arts and technology workshops.
We will use conductive thread, LEDS, batteries and switches to add lights to old toys and/or make toy themed accessories (e.g. headbands, badges, wristbands). Participants will learn about the components, how to create a sewn circuit, and be supported to create a piece using old toys. They will be invited to take their pieces home, or add their piece to our Toy Cabinet in Toybox. Beginners will learn the basics of connecting LEDs and batteries in simple circuits, while intermediates will play with more complex circuits and switches!

Duration 2 hours
