Confidence Tricks

Our small local charity aims to develop and run creative activities in and around Sheffield to  raise awareness about mental health in young people and help develop different methods of support. It has been set up to commemorate the life and spirit of Dora Rachel Franks Daniel.  Dora worked as Community Liaison for the University of Sheffield Students Union Volunteering Programme; she was well known across the city and had a positive impact in many ways. Dora was open about her own struggles with mental health; her bravery around this was inspiring and it translated into care for others. You can read more about her atwww.DoraRainbow.comWe award small grantsto develop specific arts-based activities, with the aim of promoting wider awareness about young people’s mental health, as well as exploring the connection between mental health and creativity. Hannah Chutzpah’s poetry tour has been supported by one of our grants as well as the Pocket Projects art film ‘There is no happy love’.This event is part of Catalyst: Festival of Creativity in collaboration with SHU's Equality and Community Engagement programme and supported by SHU Students' Union

Spirit of the Rainbow Heron

A last chance to see Hannah Chutzpah's empowering  poetry show, at the end of its successful UK autumn 2016 tour, highlighting issues around mental health and wellbeing for young people. Hannah has five star reviews from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for her show, which has been life-changing for some audience members. "Sharing our personal experiences shows us that we're not alone - and that gives us validation and confidence."  Followed by an opportunity for informal discussion.

The event includes the opportunity to watch the new art film "There is no happy love" based on a poem by Louis Aragon, which explores the duality of the human condition, produced by Spirit of the Rainbow Heron with Pocket Projects [7 minutes long].
