The Medical and Dental Defence Union of Scotland

This interactive full day course is aimed primarily at medical and practice admin and reception teams, and will focus on key areas of maintaining patient confidentiality in a busy practice setting. The introduction of GDPR has heightened awareness and responsibilities for all data controllers and processors, and in most situations there is a direct impact on doctors and dentists professional and ethical duty to protect patient confidentiality.
The workshop will focus on key areas such as; common law principles, disclosures that are in public interest, dealing with requests for personal information from bodies such as the police, schools, government bodies and  health and social care services, and also approaches by the families of deceased patients. The workshop will also consider practical solutions to preventing confidentiality breaches within the work environment itself. 
It is open to both MDDUS member and non-member practices
Registration will be from 09:30 with the course starting at 10am.
A sandwich lunch will be available.
The course provides five hours of MDDUS verified CPD.
