Connect 5 training increases the confidence and skills of frontline staff to have conversations that help improve people’s wellbeing. We recommend completing all 3 modules but it is your choice. See below for detailed module descriptions and timings.

Please note that to be eligible to attend these fully funded sessions you must be an employee or volunteer working in Oldham and want to improve your mental health and wellbeing and to share this learning with others in the community or workplace. This would be valuable for frontline staff working in a customer supporting role as well as line managers and leadership teams. If this Connect 5 session is full please register your interest to attend one of the future training sessions:- https://www.actiontogether.org.uk/oldham-connect-5-trainingYou must have completed Connect 5 - Session 1 prior to attending this session.Session 2 - Learn to lead on wellbeing interventionsAims to develop your skills and confidence to recognise mental health and wellbeing needs and to make effective interventions to improve mental health and wellbeing.This session module provides opportunities to gain greater insight into experiences of stress and distress and explores how to help people take their first steps to feeling better. Participants will gain confidence and skills needed to help others improve their mental health and wellbeing.Module 2 seeks to change the way we have mental wellbeing conversations so that we can have conversations and support development of a shared understanding of individuals' mental wellbeing needs.The purpose of this module is to:Apply the Five Areas model to wellbeing conversationsPractice the 3Cs of connected conversationAssess the nature and extent of the mental wellbeing issue being presented to ensure people get the right help at the right timeIdentify steps that can be taken to improve mental wellbeingLocate services and resources that support people to improve mental wellbeingThis session focuses on conversations in which you and the person you are talking to develop a shared understanding of that person’s wellbeing needs. These conversations include brief mental wellbeing interventions. This goes beyond the brief wellbeing advice covered in session 1. These conversations provide a framework for a person to understand why they feel like they do and what action they can take for themselves to feel better.This 3-hour session is practical and interactive, involving a PowerPoint presentation, large group discussion, small group work and exercises in pairs.Please note that to be eligible to attend these fully funded sessions you must be an employee or volunteer working in Oldham and want to improve your mental health and wellbeing and to share this learning with others in the community or workplace.
