Using the NBO in Family Hubs to Strengthen Shared, Relationship-Based Support for Babies and Parents

<h4>The next in our series of Inform and Inspire Webinars.</h4> Family Hubs across the UK are bringing together services that support families from pregnancy through the early years — creating welcoming, joined-up spaces where parents can access the help they need, when they need it. Within these integrated teams, professionals such as midwives, health visitors, perinatal mental health practitioners, children’s centre staff, and parent–infant specialists work side by side to offer coordinated, relationship-focused care.The Brazelton Newborn Behavioural Observations (NBO) provides practitioners with a powerful tool to support these aims. The NBO approach helps families understand their baby’s unique communication cues, strengthen early relationships, and promote confident, responsive parenting — all core ambitions of the Family Hub model.In this webinar, we’ll explore how the NBO is being used within Family Hubs and across local systems to enhance collaboration between services, enrich the experiences of families, and build shared understanding among professionals working around the same babies and parents. <h3>By the end of this webinar, you will be more informed and inspired to:</h3><ul><li>Understand how the NBO can be embedded within Family Hub settings and local service networks.</li><li>Recognise the benefits of a shared, relationship-based approach to supporting early parent–infant relationships.</li><li>Appreciate the impact of integrated, cross-discipline practice on families’ experiences of care.</li><li>Reflect on how NBO- informed practice can strengthen your own work with parents and babies.</li><li>Feel motivated to connect with others locally who are using or interested in using these tools within Family Hubs.</li></ul>
