Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) Orkney has been established to improve links between education and work and increase opportunities for young people.We want to help produce better qualified, work ready and motivated young people with the skills relevant for modern employment opportunities, both as employees and entrepreneurs of the future.

Kirkwall & St Ola Community Centre

Developing the Young Workforce Orkney are hosting a Lunch and Learn event on Thursday 5 December 2019, 12.30pm-2pm at the Kirkwall and St Ola Community Centre, Broad Street, Kirkwall.'Connecting with your Future Workforce' is a FREE event and will be a chance for businesses and individuals to learn about two online tools which will make it easier for them to connect with young people at schools and colleges.Presentations will be given on Founders4Schools and Marketplace, both of which will give local businesses the chance to offer workshops, talks or workplace visits directly to schools and will enable schools to contact employers to come into schools to support the school curriculum. These systems will make the process of connecting with schools and colleges much simpler and lets employers tailor their offer to the needs of their business.As well as learning more about the two systems, you will also be able to sign up for the sites.So, if you are keen to speak to young people about your business, giving them an opportunity to learn more about careers in your sector and get them thinking about a future career with you, this is the event for you.Lunch will be served from 12.30pm, with presentations starting at 1pm.If you have any special dietary requirements, please let us know at orkneydyw@uhi.ac.uk by Monday 2 December 2019.
