Conservation Rangers - Easter Special

Conservation Rangers - Easter Special

Rainton MeadowsHoughton-le-Spring
Thursday, Apr 16 from 10 am to 12 pm
Overview

A group for 14 - 18 year olds who wish to learn some practical conservation skills, improve ecological knowledge, and enjoy the outdoors.

In this extra Easter session we will be developing a woodland area for use by local schools. This session will use a range of habitat management skills to create a woodland habitat for invertebrates, amphibians, mammals and birds.

Join this group of young volunteers and get some hands on experience of managing a nature reserve and recording the wildlife. You'll gain new skills and get involved in conservation tasks including surveying, planting and painting tasks during these sessions.

These volunteering hours can count towards a Duke of Edinburgh Award or can be recorded as work experience on your CV, plus you’re helping to do your bit for the environment!

Please dress for the weather and bring suitable waterproof clothing. Wear sturdy boots/footwear.

Activities across different sessions may include:

  • Hand tool use
  • Painting
  • Planting
  • Grass cutting and raking
  • Litter picking
