Constipation and Soiling (Level two)
Evidence-based training on managing intractable functional constipation in children, including assessment, treatment options and escalation.
The management of functional constipation and soiling is often straightforward, but for some children the condition does not respond well to the usual medical management. This evidence-based session will focus on supporting those children and families affected by intractable constipation.
The training is intended for healthcare professionals who work with children affected by chronic functional constipation and will consider the assessment and treatment of children and teenagers who have not responded to first line interventions. It will assume knowledge of basic bladder and bowel health and first-line treatments for constipation. It will be particularly relevant to those working in specialist children’s bladder and bowel services (level two), primary care or community paediatrics and to those with an interest in this area of child health.
