Music Space Technologies Extracting Music Objects from Variable Parameter Space

Lecturer's Abstract 
For this lecture, Cristian will give a brief introduction to the conceptual framework called 'Music Space' and how his practice explores it and extracts music objects from its infinite combinatorial possibilities. Recent projects entitled "WireFrames Library", "The Ballad of Agnete and The Merman" and "Inglorious Images in Music Space" will be presented as examples demonstrating his artistic application of systems theory through practice. 
'Agnete and The Merman' is a film adaptation and documentation of a sonic theatre performance, originally staged at Godsbanen Theatre Aarhus in June 2017. The scenes for the film were shot on set and edited by Canadian AV artists Tanya Goehring and Trevor Jacobson, also known as The Automatic Message. 'The Ballad of Agnete and The Merman' is based on a supernatural Scandinavian folk ballad. It was originally commissioned by the Aarhus European Capital of Culture under its "ReThink" theme. Software controlled sound, light and live choreographic performance reframed scenes from the old ballad as a modern, immersive and immediate music experience. 
Biography
Cristian Vogel is a long-term innovator in the composition, mixing and performance of electronic sounds. His professional career as an independent creator, working in advanced music and technology, has established him as an outstanding influence in the fields of composition for stage, club culture and studio.
