Conversations in Creativity: MARTYN WARE

The National Festival of Making is a unique celebration of UK making, from the kitchen table to the factory floor. Presenting a programme of work that combines art, manufacturing, making and communities, we commission international and national artists to create world class works, a year round programme and a participatory free family festival for all to enjoy.

Martyn Ware will be discussing his collaboration with <A HREF="http://illustriouscompany.co.uk/" TARGET="_blank" TITLE="Martin Ware" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Illustrious Company</A> and <A HREF="https://ams-neve.com/" TARGET="_blank" TITLE="AMS Neve" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">AMS Neve</A> for <A HREF="https://festivalofmaking.co.uk/" TARGET="_blank" TITLE="FOM" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Festival of Making</A>. We will also explore the creative inspirations that informed his long and varied music career as a founding member of Human League and Heaven 17, as well as the new art and creative projects that he is now putting his skilled and experienced hands to. <A HREF="http://louderthanwar.com/author/johnrobb/" TARGET="_blank" TITLE="John Robb" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer"></A>
<A HREF="http://illustriouscompany.co.uk/distinguishing-features/martyn-ware" TARGET="_blank" TITLE="Martyn Ware" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Martyn Ware</A> has written, performed and produced two Human League, two BEF and nine Heaven 17 albums. As a record producer and artist, he has featured on recordings totalling over 50 million sales worldwide, producing amongst others Tina Turner, Terence Trent D'Arby, Chaka Khan, Erasure, Marc Almond and Mavis Staples. He founded Illustrious Company with Vince Clarke in 2001 to exploit the creative and commercial possibilities of their unique three-dimensional sound technology, in collaboration with fine artists, the performing arts and corporate clients around the world. 
<A HREF="http://louderthanwar.com/author/johnrobb/" TARGET="_blank" TITLE="John Robb" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">John Robb</A> is an award-winning journalist and creator of Louder Than War. In a 30 year music writing career, John was the first to write about bands such as Stone Roses and Nirvana and has several best selling music books to his name. He constantly tours the world with Goldblade and the Membranes, playing gigs or doing spoken word and speaking at music conferences. 
About Conversations in Creativity: In 2011 Creative Lancashire launched <A HREF="http://creativelancashire.org/html/ConversationsinCreativity_707.html" TARGET="_blank" TITLE="Conversations in Creativity" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Conversations in Creativity</A> - a network and series of events where creative's from across the principles, crafts and disciplines explore how inspiration from around the world informs process. Previous events have featured Wayne & Gerardine Hemingway and Gary Aspden (Adidas Originals), Pete Fowler (Illustrator/Animation Film Maker/Designer) and Donna Wilson (Designer). We’ve also hosted a series of these events during the Guild Festival with Nick Park (Aardman), Lemn Sissay (Poet) and Jeanette Winterson (Author), hosted by Dave Haslam.
Attendees from the earlier Business Innovation for Growth symposium event are entitled to free access to this event.

In the days surrounding the weekend celebration on 12 and 13 May, Creative Lancashire will present the National Festival of Making <A HREF="http://bigconference.co.uk/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Conference Programme</A>, in association with Crafts Council and GF Smith, to name a few.
Join us for a series of presentations, panels, and discussions to be held in Blackburn and Preston from10 May onwards. We will be exploring the relationship between making, skills, and new or emerging technologies, through a variety of events aimed at creative practitioners, professional makers, manufacturing businesses, and those working in related fields.
