Explore the profound legacy of James Baldwin with Dr. Vivian Latinwo-Olajide and social change advocate Suzanne Lyn-Cook in this 2.5-hour transformative online workshop, focusing on integrating Baldwin’s ideologies into modern creative activism and social justice.C﻿reators SpaceC﻿reators Space is a virtual workshop series focusing on craft and social change, and is part of the wider Conversations with Baldwin festival celebrating the life and work of 20th-century author, intellectual, and activist James Baldwin.A﻿ Baldwinian MethodWhat is the legacy of the writer, intellectual and activist James Baldwin? And what relevance does it have for us in the 21st century? This online workshop is a testing ground for what we’re calling ‘A Baldwinian Method’, i.e. how can we apply a James Baldwin-inspired approach to social change? This revised Creators Space is an invitation to develop an understanding of James Baldwin’s teachings and its applications to today’s social context. Led by Baldwin scholar Dr. Vivian Latinwo-Olajide and social change advocate and psychotherapist Suzanne Lyn-Cook, ‘A Baldwinian Method’ is an experimental space to explore the idea of ‘Baldwin in practice’ and what activism in our everyday life - both professional and personal - can look like. What to Expect:<ul><li>Develop an understanding of James Baldwin's teachings and their applications in today’s social context.</li><li>Gain insights into effective strategies for change agency and wellbeing.</li><li>Construct actionable plans for implementing change using Baldwinian approaches.</li><li>Engage in enriching discussions, reflections, and activities with like-minded individuals.</li></ul>This session is ideal for:<ul><li>anyone whose practice is rooted in social justice (or wants it to be).</li><li>anyone in the midst of growing an organisational strategy that requires a wider vision.</li><li>anyone who feels led by radical possibilities for a transformed future.</li></ul>If you are a professional from any sector with at least five years experience (including within your own enterprise, creative practice or start-up), this session is for you. Some familiarity with James Baldwin's work would be helpful (but not absolutely essential) to participate in this workshop.Please bring a notebook and pen. D﻿r. Vivian Latinwo-OlajideDi. Vivian Latinwo-Olajide is an unwavering transdisciplinary scholar deeply committed to exploring human experiences. Her research interests encompass various disciplines. What unites and steers her pursuits is the pivotal role of 'feeling' as a unifying source.Latinwo-Olajide uses a versatile toolkit, combining audio-visual techniques and archival materials, to delve into our collective existence. Her focus is on meticulously examining the ordinary aspects of our shared lives, unveiling often-overlooked subtleties in experiences shaped by emotions. Her ultimate commitment is to illuminate hidden dynamics and foster a profound understanding of our interconnected relationships. Essentially, her work addresses these three fundamental questions: <ul><li>What does it mean to be together? </li><li>What does togetherness feel like? </li><li>How do we stay together well? </li></ul>

Suzanne Lyn-CookSuzanne is Words of Colour’s Director of Creative Wellbeing and People and is a Psychosynthesis psychotherapeutic counsellor, personal development coach and social change agent with a particular interest in empowering women and people of colour. Suzanne has worked in the health and social care field for over 40 years in a variety of roles, including as a social worker, care services manager, social work educator, organisational consultant, a former director of a public involvement charity and trustee of a multi-cultural counselling charity. She has experience of group work and community building.As part of her therapeutic work, she is a member of the Centre for Collective Trauma which works to heal trauma resulting from terrorism or disasters, including people affected by the Manchester Arena Attack and Grenfell Disaster. Suzanne trains therapists and other professionals in this specialist area of work.At Words of Colour, she is the Co-Lead for the Creative Wellbeing Hub, which provides mentoring, coaching and development initiatives for writers, poets, artists, creatives and entrepreneurs of colour.<a href="http://www.slyncook.com/index.html" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">http://www.slyncook.com/index.html</a>
