Spend a morning with the Wheat Weaver in Room at Milton Creek Country Park learning the ancient craft of corn dolly weaving.
About this event
Celebrate the harvest by learning the ancient techniques of wheat weaving to make corn dollies, essential components of the harvest ritual.
We will start with simple patterns to gain confidence in holding and manipulating the straw and getting the feel of the material. Then, using what has been learned together with more complex plaits, you will be able to create at least three beautiful corn dollies to take away with you including a Welsh Border fan to bring blessings to your home.
All materials and tools will be provided. COVID: Group size will be kept small to ensure participants may have individual help when required and so that we can err on the side of caution with regard to any restrictions in place at the time of the workshop.
Fees go to the Friends of Milton Creek to enable them to provide more events and activities in the Park.
We will open the car park for participants and toilets are available. Liquid refreshment will be available for a small donation to the Friends.
