Join us for an exciting royal talk in collaboration with Westminster Abbey.Using records of coronations dating back to the twelfth century, learn about how the planning and ceremony of this royal spectacle has changed over the centuries – from the regalia used to how the public celebrated these grand occasions. Paul Dryburgh, Principal Records Specialist in Medievalist Records from The National Archives, will unpack this fascinating history. Then, hear from Grazyna Richmond, Head of Engagement at Westminster Abbey, as she tells tales of the building in which all English coronations since 1066 have happened. Listen to some of the less well-known stories about coronations from the past and discover why English coronations happen in a church.Join Paul and Grazyna as they discuss the history behind the pageantry of royal coronations though the ages.

What’s Online is a series of talks, in conversation events and webinars delivered by our experts and special guests. Events last approximately one hour, including an audience Q&amp;A.
