About this Event
This conference is a Midlands4Cities Cohort Development funded event.  Please note that this conference is entirely free but does require you to register to attend. 
 
Cracking the Established Order (CtEO) is a two day interdisciplinary conference that invites researchers and artists to continue to explore the ongoing accelerating influence of practice-based research, as it continues to shape new ways of thinking about research and creative methodologies. Focusing on the evolution and increasing importance of creative practice within academic contexts across the artsand humanities, CtEO returns to the key question of ‘Can practice allow us to re-envision the role of a traditional researcher?’. Through this conference, we will explore together how research provides a possibility for the formation of new knowledge – both critical and embodied - created and articulated through unique forms and formats. CtEO provides a new platform to reconsider the provocative potential of practice-based research.
 
With a focus on practice and with an aim to defy the conventional conference format, CtEO is made up of an exciting variety of presentations, including workshops, performance, discussion groups, screenings and installations. Our keynotes are also delivering interdisciplinary presentations that span across photography and video, sculpture and mixed media, along with feminist performance art. This is a two day conference with lunch and refreshments provided throughout the day.
 
There will be a wine reception following the first day of the conference which will be held on the Mezzanine in the PACE building.
 
We would also like to invite delegates to join us for the conference meal later in the evening, details to follow. Delegates will be required to confirm their interest in attending the meal by June 1st.
 
We would also like to encorouge non-presenting delegates to join us for the conference and the following meal.
