Come along to Crafting with Pride, a weekly FREE craft session for LGBTQIA+ people aged 50+.

Crafts Council Gallery

We are delighted to be working with Opening Doors and Forum+ to host a series of FREE craft sessions at the Crafts Council Gallery on Pentonville Road, Angel.These weekly workshops offer LGBTQIA+ people a safe space to get making and meet with likeminded people. The sessions, led by artists Al Hill and Eleanor Louise West, will run for 8 weeks and and are suitable for crafters of all abilities. Each week they will teach you a new craft skill such as printmaking, embroidery and weaving, or you can bring your own project to work on!A﻿bout the artists:<a href="https://al-hill.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Al Hill</a> (he/they) is a Queer textile artist who makes quilts, tapestries, and installations and leads workshops with community groups and organisations. Their work focuses on exploring and readopting craft into queer and trans contexts.<a href="https://eleanor-west.format.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Eleanor Louise West</a> (they/she) is a Queer Disabled artist who uses a range of mediums to explore their own experiences, especially the process of coming out, finding and thriving within LGBTQIA+ communities. Her work aims to serve as a tool for queer people to find strength within themselves and to inspire pride in others. Please note:<ul><li>T﻿hese sessions are for LGBTQIA+ people aged 50+.</li><li>T﻿he gallery is closed to the public on Tuesdays, but we will be open for workshop participants only.</li><li>There is no need to attend each session, it is fine to join us as and when you feel like it. </li><li>If you require any additional support to access these sessions please get in touch.</li><li>There is an accessibility lift up to the gallery which is on one level, we have a wheelchair accessible toilet.</li><li>Support workers, PAs, and carers are welcome.</li></ul>Plan your visit:<ul><li>The Crafts Council Gallery is based at 44a Pentonville Road, Angel, Islington, N1 9BY.</li><li>Read our <a href="https://www.craftscouncil.org.uk/visitor-information" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">visitor information</a> for guidance on travel, accessibility and more.</li><li>Email participation@craftscouncil.org.uk if you have any questions.</li></ul>
