As part of Orpington Literary Festival, join author, editor, lecturer and mentor Sara Grant for an interactive story-creating session for parents and children five or older. The only thing better than a book at bedtime is creating an original, fun story together. Sara will help you and your child generate an idea and give you the building blocks to weave a magical story. Along the way, Sara will sneak in the basics of storytelling. You’ll get the chance to start your story, but we hope you’ll take what you’ve learned and finish the story at home – or continue it for many nights to come!Sara writes and edits fiction for children and teens. Dark Parties, her first young adult novel, won the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators Crystal Kite Award for Europe. Ten of her books have been traditionally published. As a freelance editor of series fiction, she has worked on fourteen different series and edited nearly 100 books. She’s the Talent Manager for Storymix (storymix.co.uk), an inclusive fiction studio. She’s taught master’s courses on writing for children/teens at Goldsmiths University and the University of Winchester. She has given writing workshops in the US, UK and Europe. She co-founded Undiscovered Voices – which has launched the writing careers of more than a hundred authors and illustrators, who now have published more than 400 children’s books.
