About this event 

This session will explore how to create an audience development plan. Participants will receive a template audience development plan as well as optional exercises, a checklist and links to additional free resources. 

The session will cover: 

  • Key definitions 
  • Reasons to create an audience development plan 
  • A step-by-step framework for creating an audience development plan, linking to the template and exercises participants will receive after the session 
  • Audience segmentation 
  • Common challenges and top tips 

Learning objectives 

  • Participants have more understanding of how to write an audience development plan  
  • Participants have more confidence in how to write an audience development plan  
  • Participants have access to a template they can use and adapt, so they can more easily develop a plan 

PLEASE NOTE: This session is a repeat of the online event delivered in February and September 2025. An additional session has been scheduled due to high demand.

 About the trainer 

Christina is a marketing and audience development consultant and facilitator working with heritage and cultural organisations, with over 20 years’ experience working in agency and in-house positions and as a consultant. 

Her experience spans small organisations such as the Museum of Cambridge, Jane Austen’s House and American Library; sector support and development organisations such as the Association of Independent Museums and the Arts Marketing Association; and larger organisations such as the Science Museum Group and Art Fund. 

She has written the book Marketing Strategy for Museums, is a trustee of Kids in Museums and a school governor.

Who should attend? 

 This training is at an introductory/refresher level, and is aimed at museum staff, trustees and volunteers who need to or are interested in learning more about creating audience development plans. 

Maximum two delegates per organisation. Priority will be given to delegates from non-NPO and non-National museums in the Midlands which are Accredited or officially Working Towards Accreditation.
